I am involved in the Global Learning XPRIZE where one of the hurdles to overcome is the speech recognizer for Swahili. Through my difficulties I came to the conclusion that "there must be a better way." Speech processors are currently only used for a limited number of languages. The main reason for this is the great difficulty in gathering and processing the audio recordings needed to train the processor for each language.  What's more, none to date has been trained for the speech impaired. My goal is to develop a speech processor which is much easier to configure for each language and for people who have speaking difficulties.
